Capernaum tells the short life story of 12-year-old Zain. Zain, who says that he only gets love from his family and that he has always been neglected, is not even registered to any place, continues his struggle for life in the poorest neighbourhoods of Beirut, sometimes alone, sometimes in the warm embrace of a refugee woman, and finally sues his parents. The little Zain Al Rafeea, who plays the role of Zain with an extraordinary performance in the film, which processes universal concepts such as childhood, family, immigration, love, has in fact experienced difficulties as a child of a Syrian refugee family in Beirut.
