Chance and his two deputies investigate murders in the city. But he gets into trouble when one of his assistants is very young and the other is an alcoholic. In a small American town, Sheriff John T. Chance arrests the son of one of the most influential people in the county for murder. A wealthy landowner sends his men to save his son. The entire city is under siege, with the alcoholic Dude and Colorado Ryan, a former deputy sheriff, defending the sheriff. The whole city is with him to help the sheriff.
